Basal Cell Carcinoma Treatment

Basal cell carcinoma is the most prevalent type of skin cancer. Early treatment of basal cell carcinoma is absolutely essential to protect your skin tissue and reduce the risk of recurrent basal cell tumours. 

If left untreated, basal cell carcinoma can continue to grow and penetrate into the skin, causing damage not only to multiple layers of the epidermis, but also to the tissue and bone. In some rarer instances, basal cell carcinoma can be aggressive enough to spread to other parts of the body and become life threatening.

Precise, personalised treatment

Our basal cell carcinoma treatment options include a non-invasive approach designed to deliver improved cosmetic outcomes and 97.5% (reference 2) complete tumour regression. We are the only clinic in Victoria licensed to provide the non-surgical, single-session Rhenium-SCT® (Skin Cancer Therapy) treatment. 

Rhenium-SCT utilises the Beta emitter radioisotope Rhenium-188 for the treatment and removal of non-melanoma skin cancer. It follows a three step process where one of our trained physicians will mark out the area to be treated, cover the area with film and apply the Rhenium-SCT® paste, and then remove the film after a calculated period of time.

Step one

The physician marks the area to be treated.

Step two

The area is covered with a clear film before applying the Rhenium-SCT® paste.

Step three

After a calculated period of time (between 30-180mins), the film is removed and the waste is disposed of.
